FFB Yoke Motor Empty FFB Yoke Motor

Hello,

can you please tell me which motors are you using for your FFB yoke. I have found the Nema BLDC motors on ebay but am not sure if they are the correct one or there are other alternatives available as well.
Thank you.

Hey captzsadal

the motors are the original units from MSFFB2 stick as well as the rest of electronics (except from one pot).
All you need for the build is summed up in PDF parts list available here: https://vrflightsim.wixsite.com/mysite/finished-stuff

Enjoy..

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
What do you suggest would the power of the original motors be enough for my dual yoke setup?

Regards.

Unfortunately I don't think the current setup is capable of driving "full metal combo" at the moment.. Ver. 1 is more a desktop controller though.
However there will be ver. 2 of the yoke which will deliver much greater forces and easier cockpit implementation feature.
I 'm also working tirelessly on another project which will allow for use of Arduino, high torque DC motors, hall sensors, and custom written GUI offering fine tuning and control of the force feedback.

Hi Jay,

this all sounds really great. What do you think when will the 2nd version be available to test? (I know I am sounding a bit impatient Laughing ) ...

Hi Zahid

I can't even guess when I'll be able to move onto the next gen yoke.
VRFlightSim in an open source hoby project and sometimes the progress is painfully slow (this reply is perfect example) Smile
Anyway I will keep my web and forum up to date and as soon as I have something worth mentioning, you'll find it here.

Hmm. Started printing the parts before I went looking for the sacrificial thrustmaster FFB joystick...turns out those aren't as easy to find.

you know of any other models that have the same general components? in the meantime, I'll keep my eye open for one of the vintage thrustmaster yokes.

Also, what was the base model of the yoke you used. it looks like you started with the cessna branded saitek yoke. Is that correct?

Do you mean Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 (which is used by Jay as a "donor")? So far they are regularly offered on eBay (I've found 14 of them this morning). AFAIK there are no other products using the same components.

Yea, I see a few of those on ebay as well. was just wondering if there were other options.

what about the yoke itself. was i correct in assuming it was a saitek?

Yes, Jay mentioned it in "To be made" part of the website. There is a number of shops offering a similar Cessna-style yoke but without switches so that it's possible to install any switch/ button combination. I've ordered one here: http://www.simkits.com/product/yoke-control-wheel/- it seems to be the cheapest offer but their lead time before shipment is 2- 3 weeks or more. Mine was ordered more than 3 weeks ago and it's not shipped yet.

Hey guys

Sorry for my absence, I'm very busy lately.
Glad you took part in the forum, answering these questions. The yoke in the link above looks great. Would you share some thoughts on its quality once you have it?
I have used Mad Cat's (saitek) yoke wheel but it will need an upgrade for the "hack" mod as it's not really heavy duty shell. The upgrade is on my list.
